Bike the Coast - Taste the Coast

November 6, 2010 - Oceanside Pier

Spott proudly sponsored the Candelas Cycling team at Bike the Coast — Taste the Coast, a 7, 15, 25, or 50-mile bicycle ride starting and finishing with food, fun, and music at the Oceanside Pier on Saturday, Nov. 6. The cycling courses included San Diego's North County Beaches from Oceanside to Carlsbad.

Proceeds from the ride support the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition — a non-profit organization dedicated to making bicycling better in greater San Diego, and the Oceanside Park and Recreation Foundation.

Finish Chelsea's Run

March 5, 2011 - Balboa Park

On March 5th, 2011, there were 5,400 participants and volunteers that took part in the Finish Chelsea's Run 5K at Balboa Park. Our CTO, Nicholas Scheri, was one of them.

The inaugural event was held in honor of Chelsea King, the Poway teen who disappeared during a run at Rancho Bernardo Community Park. The proceeds from the race supported the Chelsea’s Light Foundation Sunflower Scholarship Fund, a scholarship program that helps San Diego youth achieve their academic and community enrichment goals.

Since Nick knew the Kings personally, the race meant more to him than just an opportunity to show support. We are proud of Nick for placing 2nd in his age group and 6th overall, and even more proud of our ability as a company to spread awareness and raise funds for such influential foundations as Chelsea's Light.

Cherry Blossom Festival

March 21, 2011 - Balboa Park

The annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Balboa Park's Japanese Friendship Garden attracted hundreds of people on Saturday morning, including the Spott.com team, who were honoring the victims in Japan.

Painting a serious yet hopeful tone, the Spott team: Nicholas Scheri, Randy Hernandez and Jaime Brambila in Spott gear, went straight to the Red Cross table to thank them for their support and help, as well as the organizers of the event.

Amidst the entertainment, this year's festival carried a somber tone. Organizers dedicated this year's celebration to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami, with donations being collected for the Red Cross' Japanese relief campaign and vendors donating a portion of their proceeds to help Japan.

8th Annual Champagne and Purses
Benefit Event

April 6, 2011 - Balboa Park

If you were at the Eden night club in Hillcrest on Tuesday April 26, 2011, you were probably given a kiss by the Spott ladies. A Hershey kiss that is. And truffles!

The Spott team was proud to come out and support the 8th Annual Champagne and Purses Benefit hosted by the It's All About the Kids Foundation, one of Spott's sponsored charities. The ladies-only event, running from 6-9 p.m., was held to collect donated formal dresses, purses, shoes and jewelry to help San Diego's less fortunate high school teens attend prom.

Partying for a Purpose, the fundraising branch of It's All About the Kids, regularly hosts fun and unique events around San Diego to benefit kids in need. To stay updated on future events click here!

Fiesta, Cinco de Mayo

May 1, 2011 - Old Town

The Spott team celebrated an early Cinco de Mayo with over 30,000 San Diegans at Fiesta Old Town on April 30, 2011.

With magaritas, mariachis and more in San Diego's oldest neighborhood, Spott contributed to the festivities by featuring a live-raffle at their booth where new subscribers to the site were entered to win vouchers for jet ski rentals, authentic Italian dinners, movie tickets and more.

Every two hours, a throng of people gathered round the booth, eagerly listening to see if their lucky number was called. There were 2 lucky winners at each raffle that received complimentary vouchers from CEO Max Schwarz. The rest were offered otter pops, sour patch kids and tootsie rolls. Everyone ends up being a winner with Spott.com

This is Spott's first time at the two day festival that included cultural exhibits, historical reenactments and even a live-Lucha Libre show. The team would like to thank all those that came by the booth for support.
